The wooden planter which has sparked a row between neighbours. // A retired widow became embroiled in a bizarre neighbour planning row - after being accused of 'spending hours' attending to her new planter. Jane Higgins, 74, had the planter installed in the front garden of her semi detached home and spends her time tending to the plants, flowers and ornaments within it. But her family were shocked when they were told they needed to apply for retrospective planning permission for structure - as a neighbour had issued a complaint. Among the concerns raised by the one objector were that it overshadows their privacy "as the neighbour spends hours attending to their plants." Photo released 17/05/2026
