A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being stabbed as he walked on a public footpath through a golf course.
The victim, in his 60s, was walking on a footpath through Stafford Castle golf club when an attacker approached him from behind and stabbed him at around 7pm on Thursday.
He was discovered on a bench by a member of the public, who alerted emergency services.
The victim remains in hospital in a critical condition and both him and his family are receiving support from specialist officers.
South West Midlands Ambulance Service, the Midlands Air Ambulance and the National Police Air Service all attended the scene.
