Well, well, look at what the cat dragged in. 1666: Amsterdam is still happening, and Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Désilets took to the stage during today's Summer Game Fest livestream to reveal more on his long-awaited, third-person adventure game starring a witchy lady I'm rooting for.
1666: Amsterdam launches in early access this year, but you can play a short 30-minute demo now on Steam or the Epic Games Store. It's not often I get a game about the kind of broody, intimidating cat lady I aspire to be, so of course I'm mid-download as I write this.
It's a standalone narrative teaser, introducing us to the world and leading witch Noa Brooklyn. The SGF reveal included a trailer filled with ominous black cats, dark cuts to Noa in her witch garb, and very brief clips of her swinging a staff around. No shots of anyone trying to toss her on a pyre. They probably know better than to try.
