728,000 people in the UK don’t know they’re eligible for £2,200 HMRC payout

Depending on when you were born, you could be eligible for a payout from HMRC, with 728,000 people across the UK having no idea they’re due an average £2,240 each in forgotten Child Trust Fund (CTF) cash.

The CTF was government-backed scheme which ran between certain years, giving children a tax-free savings or investment account with a set amount in it, which parents could then add to to build a nest egg.
