Sometimes it's nice to just find something cool and fun and free on the internet, and the Cartographia Imperialis is just that: A 3D galaxy map of the Warhammer 40K Milky Way you can peruse in your browser.
It has the same simple, awe-inspiring majesty as Mass Effect's take on the concept, and you can explore it like an isometric videogame: Left click and drag to pan around, right click to rotate the camera, mouse wheel to zoom in and out. You can click on notable planets or regions to get little lore entries, or pull 'em up by name in the index to snap straight there on the map.
I'm not sure where creator Sami Gashi sourced the text for entries, pulling straight from official sources or paraphrasing in their own words, but I quite like the very in-universe prose.
