A worker has been badly injured after falling from the rear door of an aircraft at Manchester Airport.

Witnesses reported that the engineer dropped 12ft from the back of a Jet2 plane after the mobile stairs had been detached.

Pictures showed emergency service vehicles surrounding the aircraft following the incident, near a set of stairs in Jet2 colours set back from the plane.

Paramedics arrived on the scene at 8.22am on Saturday and placed medical screens around the worker, who was a third-party contractor.
