Robots: they're basically just computers that walk around, so we're going to start covering them more regularly here at PC Gamer.

And there's a lot to cover: hardly a day goes where we don't see a clip of a robot doing something weird, funny, alarming, impressive, or—and this is pretty darn rare, but it does happen once in a blue moon—useful.

Whether they're running races or serving as butlers or playing our videogames, we need to start keeping a close eye on these things. The dangerous creations of mad scientists used to have to escape from the labs they were built in before they could wreak havoc, but these days their creators are simply leading them by the hand into densely populated public spaces and pressing the "on" button. If you're struck by a self-driving car or crushed by a toppling robot: congratulations! You've just participated in a beta test you never agreed to.
