A baby whose remains were found hidden under floorboards wrapped in newspaper from 1910 had a length of twine looped and knotted around his neck, an inquest heard.

The newborn boy’s skeleton was discovered during renovations at a property in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, in July 2024.

An inquest at Crook Civic Centre, was told the subsequent police investigation involved DNA testing, a radiocarbon expert and a forensic anthropologist.
