Customers of three major British banks are reporting problems with accessing their accounts and making transfers.

Downdetector data suggests hundreds of reports of problems with the high street giants Halifax, Lloyds and Barclays all beginning at about midday.

One individual reported an error message when trying to send funds from a Lloyd’s credit card from a current account with helplines jammed.

One customer posted: ‘Is anyone else having any issues with Lloyds? I can’t get money from the ATM nor make any bank transfers to pay etc.

‘My partner is also having the same issues with her Lloyds account. Their helpline has a 40-minute delay – so something is definitely not right.’
