Cape Verde’s 40-year-old goalkeeper gains 6,000,000 Instagram followers after World Cup heroics

Cape Verde’s goalkeeper has gained a whopping six million followers on social media following his performance against Spain in the World Cup.

Vozinha, 40, produced an incredible display in Monday’s 0-0 draw in Atalanta against the Euro 2024 champions.

Cape Verde, which consists of 10 volcanic islands off the coast of West Africa, is the third smallest country by population to qualify for a World Cup, with around 500,000 living there.

However, playing against one of the favourites to win the tournament, Vozinha made seven crucial saves, becoming the oldest goalkeeper in World Cup history to keep a clean sheet on his tournament debut.
