Emmerdale star Frazer Hammill, 41, ‘took own life after being questioned by police’

An inquest into the death of former Emmerdale actor, Frazer Hammill, has revealed that he took his own life, following an arrest and police interview.

Frazer died on 30 December 2025, mere hours after he was arrested by Lancashire Police.

Prior to taking his own life, he left a note for his neighbours, instructing them not to enter, but call the police as he had taken his own life.

Coroner Louise Slater, concluded that his medical cause of death was ‘1a hanging’. She also said that, due to the presence of a note: ‘I am satisfied that this was a deliberate act and Frazer had put thought, planning and intention into his actions...
