Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is apparently a super heavyweight 200GB installation: 'We need to overcome the hardware to a certain extent'

In a new VGC interview, Final Fantasy 7 Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed that the upcoming JRPG is looking at a 200GB install size, bigger than almost any game out there, and certainly an outlier among singleplayer RPGs.

Hamaguchi was responding to a question about Revelation's retail, physical version. It was previously disclosed that Revelation would require additional downloads alongside the two blu-ray discs that come in the box. We're not even part of that particular conversation on PC⁠—we're lucky to get a download code in a plastic box these days.

"Things are still getting worked out, but it’s probably going to be around 200GB of game," Hamaguchi said. "I understand there are a lot of opinions about this topic, but at the end of the day, the fact is we need to overcome the hardware to a certain extent."
