The Steam Frame uses inside-out tracking to map your movements in virtual reality. That means it no longer requires any external setup to get you into VR. Great, right? But what if, instead of just the controllers and headsets, you want to track your entire body in virtual reality? That's what Soulart is looking to solve.

Valve had previously relied on Base Stations to track the Valve Index. They are still in use today for a bunch of headsets from Bigscreen Beyond and Pimax, too. These Base Stations, made by both Valve and HTC, use infrared to track the absolute position of objects, namely headsets and controllers, and they can be used with trackers attached to objects or a person to track their movements in VR or on stream.

There are other ways to track a user's body on stream, ie for VTubers, but Soulart's solution looks pretty neat for VR gaming. The company's device is a motion tracker, similar to a Base Station, except it runs independently of a PC using its own NPU.
