Heatwaves shut my kids’ school – we need to learn to cope

‘Due to the ongoing heat, we would like to offer parents/carers the option of collecting their child/children at 1:00pm’, should you wish and are able to do so. Children will have had their lunch by this time’.

Looking at my email, as a parent to two kids, during the sky-high temperatures in late June, my first reaction wasn’t relief.
