On Saturday, a mother and daughter were killed, and a young child was left injured, during a wrong-way crash on Interstate 270 in Maryland by a suspected impaired driver who is reportedly in the country illegally from El Salvador.

46-year-old Musammat Shamima Begum of Burke, Virginia, who was in the Toyota Camry struck by Jose Antonio Caballero-Nolasco, 32, was taken to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Her 23-year-old daughter, Areebah Jahin of Alexandria, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An 8-year-old girl who was in the back seat of the Camry suffered life-threatening injuries and is in the hospital in critical but stable condition.
