A man has died after an ‘out of control’ dog bit him along a footpath in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.

The unnamed man, 55, was injured on an abandoned railway line off Blacker Lane in Calder Grove, near the village of Crigglestone, at 1.30pm.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died just after 7pm.
