Max's tail had a distinctive white tip. // A couple believe their missing cat was "murdered" after its severed tail was deliberately posted through their letterbox. Police are investigating after eight-year-old tabby Max vanished from his home in Hull, East Yorks., last Monday, September 14. But tragically, owners Louise, 45, and Lisa, 47, found his distinctive white-tipped tail chopped off five days later on Saturday, September 19. The animal lovers now claim the beloved puss was killed intentionally in a "targeted attack" against them by one of their neighbours. Louise said: "We are devastated and heartbroken - who could do such a thing to an animal. "He was murdered for no reason at all. Photo released 24/09/2026
