Nick Kyrgios swears at Wimbledon umpire over ‘dumb’ rule and asks for fine

Tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios marked his return to Wimbledon by swearing at an umpire and saying he ‘didn’t care’ if he was fined.

Kyrgios, who reached the Wimbledon final in 2022, did not receive a wildcard to play in the men’s singles this year but was offered an invite to the men’s doubles.

The Australian teamed up with world number 11 Alexander Bublik but were outplayed by the sixth seed pairing of Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic.

Kyrgios, who is infamous for his on-court misdemeanours, cut an increasingly frustrated figure as Arevalo and Pavic won the first set 6-3.
