

Romania’s right-wing, anti-globalist AUR party George Simion has turned the detention of Călin Georgescu into the centerpiece of AUR’s confrontation with President Nicușor Dan, demanding the president’s suspension and portraying the episode as evidence that Romania’s corrupt political establishment is increasingly using state power against the increasingly popular sovereigntist opposition.
