Former world snooker champion Ken Doherty has, somewhat unexpectedly, become embroiled in the furore surrounding a controversial goal celebration performed by Israeli striker Saied Abu Farchi.

Abu Farchi, 20, scored Israel’s only goal in a 3-1 defeat to Austria in the Nations League on Thursday night, the first time he had found the net for his country.
