Talented cricketer named as teen,17, who drowned in Lake District

Absi Ahmed died aged 17 after entering a lake near Windermere in the Lake District last week (Fylde Cricket Club)

Tributes have been paid to Absi Ahmed, a 17-year-old boy who drowned while swimming in the Lake District.

The teenager’s body was found by a search team after reports of a person in difficulty at a lake near Windermere on Tuesday 7 April.

Ahmed was a student at Blackpool Sixth Form and played junior cricket at Fylde Cricket Club with his brother, Absi.
