This week, Network Rail revealed shocking images showing why a London level crossing has been closed since September 30.

In a series of photos, children can be seen performing handstands, using their phones, and even deliberately playing ‘chicken’ with oncoming trains on the tracks at Brickfields, near Upminster.

As a result of these ‘repeated incidents of dangerous misuse’ by young people, discovered during a routine survey at the end of last month, the crossing was initially shut for 21 days.
