One of my favorite things in the world is to stack up a series, whether it’s a duology or a trilogy, prepare a nice warm beverage, snuggle under a cozy blanket, and just start reading. It’s delightful to sink into a fantasy epic’s expansive yet detailed world, full of interesting characters and compelling creatures, and know that even as you put pages behind you, there are still hundreds of pages more to go. Nothing satisfies the bookworm soul quite like it.
These nine series are a delight. New fans will fall in love, and I hope that diehard fantasy fans will be able to find new suggestions and favorites in my recommendations. Here, we have epic fantasies, absurd and logical, with magic based in bone and fire, with imprisoned gods and strange little guys to delight all kinds of readers. Some are rooted in existing mythological systems or folklore, while others are wholly new (or even set in deep space). So dive in, and enjoy this trip into a whole range of the best fantasy epics that you won’t be able to put down.
