My friend Wilfred McClay holds the Victor Davis Hanson Chair in Classical History and Western Civilization at Hillsdale College. He seeks to rescue the teaching of American history from those who hold it hostage. Among his books is Land Of Hope: An Invitation to the Great American Story, published by Encounter Books and now in its second edition.
