Tributes have poured in after the death of John Douglas, the guitarist and singer of the Trashcan Sinatras.

The news of his death emerged four days after the Scottish indie rock group released their new album, Ever the Optimist.

It was their first full-length release in a decade by the five-strong outfit.

John, who was born in the small town of Irvine in north Ayrshire, joined the band in 1986, and went on to play on their seven albums.
