Boy, 5, who fell to death from 15th-floor window ‘believed he could fly’

A five-year-old boy who fell to his death from a ‘faulty’ 15th-floor kitchen window ‘believed he could fly’ when he jumped out, an inquest heard.

Aalim Ahmed died instantly when he fell from the top-floor flat in Plaistow, east London on May 16, 2024.

His distraught father Makail Ahmed rushed downstairs and found his body shortly before 6am.

Aalim’s mother Sahra Osman said their son’s death was ‘preventable’ and blamed Newham Council, saying she had reported safety concerns about the flat on multiple occasions.
